LEGO Robotics, Beginner - Augusta1

$232

with Amie Danielson

Jul 3, 2017 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

This program is for campers new to robotics and we’ll move them through a series of fun activities that center on building and programming LEGO robotics. The goal is that by the end of the week the children are able to start applying their imaginations and their new skills to create new projects. If there are returning campers in a beginners camp, we try to assess how they are with their skills and they may be able to move ahead on independent projects, with the understanding that it is a beginners camp so we may have a limit on how much time is available to mentor them on advanced projects. Most beginner projects can be accomplished within a couple of hours so they are constantly being asked to start a project, finish a project, and then move on. This works well with the younger campers who we've found have a harder time working on 2-3 day projects (with 6 hours per day). Non-beginners can choose this camp if needed due to scheduling and we will try to accommodate their different skill levels. Open to ages 9 to 12, no experience needed.

LEGO Robotics, Mixed - Orono1

$232

with Jonathan Rice

Jul 3, 2017 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

(THERE WILL BE NO CAMP ON JULY 4TH)

This camp is for any level of LEGO Roboteer!  So if you are a rookie or a veteran this camp can take you and help move your skills forward.  We start of with some basics since even the veterans have often forgotten a lot since last year, and of course some beginners are more advanced. Our camp staff try as quickly as possible to figure out which you are.  Usually one staff member will be working primarily with the beginners and one primarily with the advanced, with the third floating as needed.

Open to ages 9 to 13, no experience needed.

With over 100,000,000 registered users, and over 34,000,000 paid computer users and another 30,000,000 paid mobile users, Minecraft has become one of the world’s top games, and certainly the top creative game.

There are almost 1,000,000 people playing Minecraft at any moment!  You probably know lots of people who spend time creating houses, roads, towns, mines, as well as gather experience points by battling monsters (mobs).

What if you could start learning how to change what you are doing, not just playing with what the game comes with?  In the Programming in Minecraft Camp we will be using the MinecraftEDU software and Tynker software to start learning how to modify the gaming environment. Will there be time to "just play the game?", yes, but the focus will be on learning new skills that relate to programming in the environment.

You do not need to have a Minecraft account, but you should bring your login information with you if you have an account so you can play as yourself.

Open to ages 10 to 14
