Calendar Jun 1, 2022 at 12 pm

Our emailing system goes out to everyone who is "in the system". We can't easily add you, but you can add yourself to this "class" and you will be included in all of our blanket announcements, such as "Hey Camp Registrations are online now" or "We have a new workshop offering". So take a minute and register for this fake class and you'll be all set.

Camp Gift Certificate

Free

with Tom Bickford

Calendar Jul 1, 2022

Give the gift of Summer STEM Camp this year!

You can give a gift certificate to your favorite person, child, grandchild, this season and they will receive a Coupon Code that allows them to get that amount off of any registration.

Small print:

  1. The camper needs to be eligible for the camp (age, location, etc)
  2. The coupon is good for 2022 (and 2023 if we have to roll over for whatever reason).
  3. There is a 7% refund charge (it's what it costs us to take the registration in the first place). If USM or Maine Robotics cancel a program for which a youth is registered, then 100% of the registration fee will be returned to the person completing the registration
  4. All refunds of unused certificates will be sent to the person who purchased the certificate.
  5. All refunds for complete registrations will be send to the person completing the registration(not the person who purchased the gift certificate).
  6. No discount codes may be used when purchasing gift certificates. If you do (the system isn't that smart) we'll deduct any discount you received.
  7. That said, when a camper is registered, they may be eligible to apply any discounts they have at that time.
  8. The least we can do a gift certificate for is $50. To increase the amount, there are options during the registration process (for the certificate) that allow you to select other amounts.
  9. If you want to fund an entire camp purchase rather than a dollar amount, then register the youth for the camp directly and pay that way.
  10. If you want an amount other than the amount listed, you can contact our office directly at camps@mainerobotics.org and we'll send you an address and form so you can mail it in.
  11. The camper family or donor is responsible for making the actual registration using the mainerobotics.coursestorm.com website.
  12. The coupon code is transferrable, but only with direct permission from the person purchasing the Gift Certificate.
  13. Each Coupon Code is only good for a single registration.
  14. To Purchase multiple Gift Certicates, please add multiple items to your shopping cart before check out, or check out multiple times.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give our office a call at 207-735-3748 or using the email listed above.

3D Printing and Design - Bangor1

$610

with Sam Goff

Calendar Jul 5, 2022 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

Did you ever wonder how people made all those cool 3D objects? Whether board game pieces or parts of a machine, these parts start as an idea in your imagination, then turned into a 3D object on a computer, and finally are printed on a 3D printer.   At the 3D Design and Printing Camp you’ll do all of these things AND build and take home your own 3D printer! Learn the basics of 3D design using SketchUp or TinkerCAD; save your designs and then export them to the 3D printer.

For 2022 we're looking at either the Ender 3 Pro with the auto leveling kit or the Ender 3 Pro V2, but it's too early to see which one will in budget come the spring and which one will be available. Maybe we'll get lucky and be able to do the Ender 3 Pro V2 AND the auto leveler.

Learn about calibrating the machines; starting and finishing the print; fixing errors; and all the details that make 3D printing both challenging and rewarding.  At the end of the week you get to take home your new printer, all the cool things you’ve created, even some 3D filament to use!

Open to ages 12 to 16.

This camp has been pro-rated for 4 days (equipment charges are the same, but we reduce it by 20% for the non-equipment cost)

2022 ALL CAMPS ARE BEING PLANNED FOR IN-PERSON.

IF REQUIRED DUE TO STATE OF THE PANDEMIC, THE CAMPS WILL BE ONLINE OR HYBRID THIS SUMMER. If conditions require online or hybrid operations, all camper families will have the opportunity to cancel for a full refund. If camps are offered in person, then normal cancellation policy remains in effect.

LEGO Robotics, Mixed - Augusta1

$290

with Erma Colvin

Calendar Jul 5, 2022 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

This camp is for any level of LEGO Roboteer! So if you are a rookie or a veteran this camp can take you and help move your skills forward. We start off with some basics since even the veterans have often forgotten a lot since last year, and of course some beginners are more advanced. Our camp staff try as quickly as possible to figure out which you are. Usually one staff member will be working primarily with the beginners and one primarily with the advanced, with the third floating as needed.

Open to ages 9 to 12, no experience needed.

Programming in Minecraft - Augusta1

$300

with Kendra Hansen

Calendar Jul 5, 2022 at 9 am, runs for 1 week

With over 110,000,000 monthly users, and over 200,000 servers running in the world (some 8,000 at any one time), Minecraft has become one of the world’s top games, and certainly the top creative game.

There are over hundreds of thousands of people playing Minecraft at any moment! You probably know lots of people who spend time creating houses, roads, towns, mines, as well as gather experience points by battling monsters (mobs). What if you could start learning how to change what you are doing, not just playing with what the game comes with?

In the Programming in Minecraft Camp we will be using the software to start learning how to modify the gaming environment. There will also be time to "just play the game", but the focus will be on learning new skills that relate to programming in the environment.

Depending on the instructor and the campers, we will also spend time with basic computer logic and an introduction to computer languages.

You do not need to have a Minecraft account, but you should bring your login information with you if you have an account so you can play as yourself.

Open to ages 10 to 14
